REPUTATION PROTECTION, DEFAMATION AND MALICIOUS FALSEHOOD POLICY

Late Night Veteran Show Ltd

1. Purpose

Late Night Veteran Show Ltd is committed to protecting its reputation, staff, volunteers, presenters, guests, partners, and associated organisations from false, malicious, defamatory, or misleading statements that may cause harm to individuals or the company.

This policy outlines the steps the company may take when inaccurate, defamatory, or malicious information is published or communicated about the company or those connected with it.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • Employees

  • Volunteers

  • Directors

  • Contractors

  • Presenters and contributors

  • Third parties interacting with the company

3. Defamation and Malicious Falsehood

The company recognises that individuals have the right to express opinions and fair criticism. However, Late Night Veteran Show Ltd will not tolerate the publication or distribution of statements that:

  • Are knowingly false.

  • Recklessly disregard the truth.

  • Cause serious harm to the reputation of the company or its representatives.

  • Misrepresent the activities, finances, governance, or conduct of the company.

  • Constitute malicious falsehood under applicable law.

4. Reporting Concerns

Any employee, volunteer, director, or representative who becomes aware of potentially defamatory or malicious statements concerning the company should report the matter to management as soon as reasonably practicable.

Evidence should be retained wherever possible, including:

  • Screenshots

  • Social media posts

  • Emails

  • Messages

  • Audio or video recordings

  • Witness statements

5. Company Response

Where potentially defamatory or malicious statements are identified, the company may:

  • Seek clarification from the individual concerned.

  • Request correction or removal of inaccurate content.

  • Publish factual corrections where appropriate.

  • Issue formal cease-and-desist correspondence.

  • Refer matters to legal advisers.

  • Pursue civil remedies where appropriate and proportionate.

6. Legal Action

Where the Directors believe that false allegations have caused, or are likely to cause, serious reputational, financial, operational, or personal harm, the company reserves the right to seek legal advice and consider legal remedies available under the laws of England and Wales, including actions relating to:

  • Defamation.

  • Libel.

  • Slander.

  • Malicious Falsehood.

  • Harassment.

  • Misuse of Private Information.

  • Other relevant civil causes of action.

Any decision to commence legal proceedings will be made only after careful consideration of the available evidence, legal advice, proportionality, and the best interests of the company.

7. Freedom of Expression

Late Night Veteran Show Ltd supports lawful freedom of expression, fair comment, legitimate criticism, and public debate. This policy is not intended to restrict genuine concerns, whistleblowing activities protected by law, or honest opinions based upon true facts.

8. Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if required by changes in legislation or company circumstances.
