1. Policy Statement

The Late Night Veteran Show Ltd is committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for all individuals who engage with our organisation.

We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of adults at risk, vulnerable individuals, children, and young people who may come into contact with our activities, events, programmes, online platforms, volunteers, directors, and representatives.

We believe that everyone has the right to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion, regardless of age, disability, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or background.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

 


 

2. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Contractors.

  • Consultants.

  • Anyone acting on behalf of The Late Night Veteran Show Ltd.

It applies to all activities undertaken by the company, including:

  • Veteran support initiatives.

  • PTSD support programmes.

  • Residential camps and retreats.

  • Fundraising activities.

  • Community events.

  • Online broadcasts, podcasts, and social media engagement.

 


 

4. Safeguarding Principles

The Late Night Veteran Show Ltd will:

  • Put the safety and wellbeing of individuals first.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

  • Maintain confidentiality wherever possible.

  • Work with relevant agencies where necessary.

5. Types of Abuse

Abuse may include but is not limited to:

Physical Abuse

Causing physical harm or injury.

Emotional or Psychological Abuse

Threats, intimidation, humiliation, coercion, or controlling behaviour.

Sexual Abuse

Any unwanted or inappropriate sexual activity.

Financial Abuse

Misuse of money, property, or assets.

Neglect

Failure to provide appropriate care, support, or protection.

Discriminatory Abuse

Unfair treatment based on protected characteristics.

Online Abuse

Cyberbullying, harassment, exploitation, or inappropriate online contact.

 


 

6. Responsibilities

Directors

Directors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring safeguarding arrangements are in place.

  • Reviewing this policy annually.

  • Managing safeguarding concerns appropriately.

  • Ensuring suitable risk assessments are completed.

Employees and Volunteers

All representatives must:

  • Familiarise themselves with this policy.

  • Remain vigilant to signs of abuse or neglect.

  • Report concerns immediately.

  • Treat all individuals with dignity and respect.

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

 


 

7. Reporting Concerns

Any safeguarding concern must be reported as soon as possible to a Director of The Late Night Veteran Show Ltd.

Reports should include:

  • The name of the individual concerned (if known).

  • Details of the concern.

  • Date, time, and location of the incident.

  • Names of any witnesses.

  • Actions already taken.

Individuals should never investigate allegations themselves.

Where there is an immediate risk of harm, emergency services should be contacted by calling 999.

 


 

8. Confidentiality

Safeguarding information will be shared only on a need-to-know basis.

Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where there is a risk of harm or where legal obligations require information to be shared with relevant authorities.

 


 

9. Safer Recruitment

Where appropriate, The Late Night Veteran Show Ltd will:

  • Obtain references.

  • Conduct identity checks.

  • Carry out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where roles require them.

  • Ensure volunteers and staff understand safeguarding expectations.

 


 

10. Online Safety

The organisation recognises the importance of safeguarding within digital and online environments.

Representatives must:

  • Use respectful communication at all times.

  • Avoid inappropriate private contact with vulnerable individuals.

  • Report concerns arising from online interactions.

  • Protect personal information in accordance with data protection legislation.

 


 

11. Risk Assessments

Risk assessments will be undertaken for events, activities, retreats, camps, and programmes where safeguarding risks may arise.

Appropriate control measures will be implemented to minimise identified risks.

 


 

12. Complaints and Whistleblowing

Anyone who has concerns about safeguarding practices within the organisation is encouraged to report them without fear of retaliation.

Concerns may be raised directly with a Director.

All reports will be taken seriously and investigated appropriately.

 


 

13. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if:

  • Legislation changes.

  • Organisational activities change significantly.

  • A safeguarding incident indicates the need for revision.
